In regards to the alleged romaine contamination that the news has been talking about, here is the latest information.  As always, we will keep you informed of important food safety updates as they occur.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has issued an updated public health notice stating that the E. coli O157:H7 foodborne illness outbreak in Canada, which that agency has associated with Romaine lettuce consumption, appears to be over.

The nationwide cold spell last week (thank goodness it’s over) really effected the Post-Irma vegetable crops in Florida.

On New Year’s Day, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) instituted a new rule which required truckers to install electronic logging devices (elogs) on all trucks.  These devices electronically monitor how long a truck driver is in the driver’s seat every day.

Tomato markets are easing downwards, with better supplies coming to market.
