Peaches – East coast peaches have started their season! Quality is really nice and should continually improve as we get further into the season and they size up. They always start out on the smaller side, but we should be into large peaches very soon.
Avocados – Pretty weather in the avocado groves has good harvests during the middle of the season. Markets are stable as we move into warmer months and higher demand.
Broccoli – Our local farmers have started their season. Prices and quality are starting out great. Big savings from California product, because of the huge cost difference in freight.
Cabbage – Has started in North Carolina. Quality and pricing are both excellent.
Eggs – Egg prices continue to fall to pre-pandemic levels. There is some discussion of a new bird-flu on the horizon, but it seems to already be figured into the market’s pricing.
Lettuces – Are easing downward as buyers resisted buying at the higher prices that shippers were trying to push so they were forced to bring the market back down. We’re still seeing some quality issues due to the heavy rains in January and February, but the market remains much softer.
Peas – Spring pea season has begun, so give us a call to see what’s available. We’ve had in the shell peas as well as shelled.
Squash and Zucchini– Local farmers are just getting started on fresh fields. Volume is starting out light, but the flood gates are going to open very soon and everyone will have squash through the summer.
Strawberries – Local strawberries are back available. Hail and rain damage stopped them for a couple of weeks, but the moderate weather we’re having now should stretch out the season until it gets too hot.
