June 19th, 2023 Supply Update: Local Produce – Many items are coming into season locally.

Corn – Cooler temps slowed down the corn harvest in Georgia.

Local Produce – Many items are coming into season locally. The list is long and growing. We now have local corn, squash, zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, cucumbers, blueberries and more on the way! Hurray for Summertime!

Avocados – Mexican farmers are raising their prices several dollars this week. Not too big of a change just yet, but reports are of lower supplies and maybe more price increases coming.

Broccoli – Is still available locally, and saving everyone a lot of money over product that has to be delivered from across the country. We’ll stay local as long as we can.

Cherries – The West Coast had an extremely successful cherry season. California still has plenty of fruit and Washington and Oregon are just getting started on their harvests. Prices are low and the fruit is absolutely gorgeous.

Corn – We just got our first local shipment of the season this morning. Sweet and tender ears are what we’ve been looking forward to and what we’re now seeing. We have yellow, white, and bi-color.

Eggs – Egg prices went as low as they could a couple of weeks ago, but they’re settling in at a bit higher but still very favorable level.

Grapes – As Mexican growers continue their harvest, supplies are growing quickly. What started out as an very tight, high priced market, is falling quickly. Prices are improving weekly.

Lettuces – Are widely available with great quality. The transition to northern fields is over and it wasn’t as bad as feared. Pricing has leveled out for the time being.

Peaches – Recent reports on the peach crop are pointing towards a short season. Our unseasonably warm winter didn’t allow the normal process of thinning the peach blossoms, which caused too many blooms. Too many blooms caused too many peaches on the trees, which means the crop will be made up of extremely small peaches that won’t be received well at market. We’re anticipating the season to end sooner than normal this year.

Potatoes – Idaho potatoes are starting to tighten up and prices are easing upwards. Shippers are anticipating  running out of potatoes a little bit early this year, so we may see a gap in July before the new harvest begins. Stay stocked up so you don’t run out at the end.

Strawberries – The heat last week and this week finished up the local strawberry season, but they were beautiful while they lasted. We’ll be moving back to California berries going forward.

Q: Why did the golfer bring two pairs of pants?

A: Because he got a hole in one.
