Happy Halloween!
Pumpkins – Though we don’t carry pumpkin spice lattes, we do have the central ingredient for those. We have lots of pumpkins in all sizes!
Local Produce – Most summer crops have finished for the season. Though we haven’t had a season ending frost yet, the chilly weather slows growth and at some point it’s not worth it to the farmers to continue production. Fall crops like broccoli and cabbage are getting started.
Cabbage – Has started locally and we received our first local shipment on Friday. These cool but not too cold days are perfect for growing high quality cabbage.
Corn – Cooler temps slowed down the corn harvest in Georgia. Supplies have tightened up considerably as the corn is very slow to grow to size in the lower temperatures.
Greens – Quality has gotten much better this week with the cooler weather. Hot days are tough on greens, making them yellow rather than the dark green of wintertime.
Melons – California is done for the most part. Cantaloupe harvests are very light and should wrap up this week. Honeydew remain in short supply as Mexico ramps up its production.
Bell Peppers – Tightened up suddenly last week as chilly weather hit several several growing areas and ended the season for more northern fields and slowed maturity in Georgia fields. The warm weather this weekend should bring production back on.
Potatoes – Idaho potato growers had a fantastic harvest this year. The potatoes are plentiful and the quality has been great. Pricing is very favorable too.
Summer Squash – Georgia has started their fall season, our local farmers are still harvesting and Mexico has started their season. Supplies are strong on all soft squashes.
Hard Squashes – Fall is the time for hard squashes, and we have plenty in stock to choose from and feature. We have acorn, butternut, delicata, spaghetti, blue hubbard and kabocha and lots of pumpkins!
Q: Why did the ghost skip the Halloween Dance?
A: Because he had no body to go with.
